Abstract

|
Effects of Polyethylene film packaging and carbon dioxide shock on the storage qualities were investigated with Changsyprang pears.
1. Polyethylene film packaging and/or carbon dioxide shock delayed remarkably the ripening of pears and preserved their freshness during storage.
2. Polylethyene film packaging and carbon dioxide shock lots showed lower percentage of fruit spoilage and core-browning than control.
3. Changes of temperature during storage seemed to give adverse effects to the qualities of pears.
4. Polyethylene film packaging lots showed less losses in weight and chemical contents than control.
